Haitian Divorce

Ingredients

  • Aged rum, Haitian, like Barbancourt 8 year45 ml
  • Mezcal22.5 ml
  • Sherry, Pedro Ximénez15 ml
  • Angostura bitters2 dashes
  • Ice
  • Large ice cube

Garnish

Orange peel and lime peel

Flavor

Sweet, Bitter

Method

  1. Stir the rum, the mezcal, the sherry and the Angostura in a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Strain into a rocks glass over one large cube.
  3. Express the orange and lime peels over it and drop both in.

About

A Haitian rum and mezcal old fashioned, sweetened with Pedro Ximénez sherry instead of sugar. It came from a sherry bar in the East Village that named its drinks after marriage.
