Ginger syrup

Ginger syrup

Grated ginger steeped in hot water, then turned into syrup. No juicer required.

Ingredients

  • Fresh ginger100 g
  • Water240 ml
  • Sugar200 g

Method

  1. Grate the ginger. Bring the water to a boil, take it off the heat, and add the grated ginger. Cover and let it steep for 1 hour.
  2. Strain, pressing the ginger firmly with the back of a spoon to get all the liquid out. Discard the solids.
  3. Add the sugar to the strained liquid, bring it back to low heat, and stir until it fully dissolves, without boiling.
  4. Take it off the heat, let it cool to room temperature before using it, and keep it in a tightly sealed bottle or jar.

Makes about 300 ml

Keeps

Tightly sealed in the fridge, it lasts up to 1 week
